DEC issues beach nourshiment permit to the Village

On July 11, 2016, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation issued a permit to the Village of Quogue authorizing it to undertake a beach nourishment project in accordance with the application submitted on behalf of the Village in 2011. The permit expires on March 31, 2026 and is subject to a number of conditions, including submission of updated plans to the DEC at least 30 days prior to project commencement. The issuance of the permit does not require that the Village undertake a project, and, as has been stated many times, the issue will be subject to further discussion among members of the Board of Trustees and with residents at forums to be announced in the future.
